Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
TradeJournalOS is a web-based trading journal for stocks and ETFs, available at tradejournalos.com and operated by SdV Ventures LLC. SdV Ventures LLC is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. If you have any questions, contact us at support@tradejournalos.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account information. Your name (if provided), email address, and a hashed password when you register.
- Trading data you provide. Broker CSV files you upload and trades, accounts, deposits/withdrawals, notes, tags, setups, mistakes, and chart screenshots you enter manually. We retain uploaded CSV files so we can help debug imports.
- Connected-brokerage data. If you connect a brokerage through SnapTrade, we receive read-only account, position, balance, and transaction (trade and cash) history for the accounts you authorize. We never receive or store your brokerage login credentials.
- Payment information. If you subscribe to Pro or buy AI credits, our payment processor (Stripe) collects and processes your card details. We do not store full card numbers; we keep a customer/subscription identifier and billing status.
- Usage and device data. Log data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps, collected to operate and secure the service and via analytics cookies.
3. How we use your information
- Provide the service — reconstruct positions, compute performance statistics, render charts, and keep your journal in sync.
- Generate AI analysis you explicitly request, grounded only in your own numbers.
- Process payments, manage subscriptions, and allocate AI credits.
- Maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and debug problems (including import issues).
- Communicate with you about your account, support requests, and material changes to the service.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your trading data, notes, or connected-brokerage data to train AI or machine-learning models.
4. Connecting a brokerage (SnapTrade)
Broker connections are powered by SnapTrade, a third-party account-aggregation provider. When you choose to connect a brokerage, you are redirected to SnapTrade to authenticate directly with your broker. We never see your brokerage username or password. SnapTrade returns read-only data for the accounts you authorize, which we use to import your trades and cash activity.
Our access is read-only — we do not place, modify, or cancel trades. You can disconnect a brokerage at any time from the Sync Broker page in the app or from the SnapTrade connection portal; doing so stops future syncing. SnapTrade’s handling of your data is governed by its own privacy policy, available at snaptrade.com/privacy.
5. AI analysis
When you request AI analysis (for example, a trade review, a question to the Coach, or an account scan), the relevant statistics and journal context are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate a response. Anthropic processes this data to return your result and, under our agreement, does not use it to train its models. AI output is informational only and may contain errors; it is not investment advice.
6. How we share information
We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf, and only as needed to run the service:
- SnapTrade — brokerage account connection and read-only data aggregation.
- Stripe — payment processing, subscriptions, and credit purchases.
- Anthropic — AI analysis you request.
- Market-data providers — we request public price history by ticker symbol and date range only; no personal information is shared.
- Analytics & hosting providers — Google Analytics for aggregate usage measurement, and our cloud hosting/infrastructure providers.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice where required).
7. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. You can delete trades, accounts, and connected brokerages from within the app. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal, tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention obligations.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — encryption in transit, hashed passwords, encrypted storage of sensitive connection secrets, and access controls — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and keep your credentials confidential.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise many of these directly in the app, or contact us at support@tradejournalos.com and we will respond as required by applicable law. You can disconnect a brokerage at any time, and you can opt out of analytics cookies through your browser settings.
10. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to secure the service, and analytics cookies (Google Analytics) to understand aggregate usage. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, though some features may not work without essential cookies.
11. International transfers
We and our service providers may process and store your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
12. Children
The service is intended for adults (18 and over) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
14. Contact us

This policy is provided for transparency and does not constitute legal advice. TradeJournalOS is not a broker-dealer and does not provide investment advice.
